Boy Scout Troop 161
Boy Scouting is a program for boys ages 11-17, designed to achieve the aims of scouting
through a vigorous outdoor program, advancement and peer-group leadership, building
character, independence and values in young people. Troop 161 has a long and
distinguished history at HGA, dating back continuously to 1936. The troop meets Thursday evenings from 7-8:30pm throughout the year. We offer numerous weekend activities –
overnight campouts as well as one-day events – and participate in a week-long
campout in July. Contact: Mike Lerch at 610-374-8429 or mlerch161@yahoo.com.
Cub Scout Pack 161
HGA Cub Scout Pack 161 serves the Hyde Park area of Reading/Muhlenberg.
Boys from Kindergarten through 5th Grade (ages 5-11) can join the pack.
Pack 161 meets on the first and third Thursday of each month of the school year at
HGA Social Hall from 6:30-7:30 pm. This whole family (sister and sibling-friendly)
character and adventure-based program prepares boys to become young men
of substance, focusing on a love of nature, S.T.E.M. awareness, Catholic faith, and
service to God and country. Cub Scouts from Pack 161 cross over at the end of 5th grade
into Boy Scout Troop 161, where boys continue lifelong learning, adventure, and friendships.
